Title: Recognizing Judea and Samaria Act
Mandates that state agencies in Mississippi must no longer use the term “West Bank” in official government materials, which are defined as guidance, rules, materials, briefings, press releases, or communications prepared by any state department, division, office, board, commission, or institution.
The Legislature intends for the land controlled by Israel from Jordan after the Six-Day War to be referred to by its historical names, “Judea” for the land south of Jerusalem and “Samaria” for the land north of Jerusalem.
State funds are prohibited from being used to create official government materials that refer to this region as the “West Bank,” although the head of a state agency can waive this prohibition if deemed in the state’s interest, provided they submit a written explanation to the Legislature or Governor. This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
